Equality is the starting assumption, not a negotiation
Norway is consistently described as one of the most gender-equal societies in the world, and that reality shapes every stage of a relationship. Norwegian women expect to split the bill on a first date, initiate messages just as often as they receive them, and be treated as an equal partner in planning rather than a passive guest. Insisting on paying for everything or making all the decisions rarely reads as chivalry here - it reads as an assumption she cannot manage her own choices. The better approach is to offer, let her decide, and treat the exchange as a partnership from the very first message.
